Insurance

Landlords

Landlords must have buildings and contents insurance for their rental property, and should be careful to choose an insurance policy that is designed specifically for their needs and obligations.

Tenants

Tenants must have a contents insurance policy to cover their personal belongings and to protect their deposit in the event of an insured incident.

Hamiltons work closely with our referencing agents, who are able to offer specific landlord and tenant policies underwritten by major insurance companies. For more information please speak to our lettings team who will put you in touch with a specialist advisor.

Safe Agent

SAFE – Safe Agent Fully Endorsed – is a mark denoting firms that protect landlords and tenants money through client money protection schemes.

Hamiltons are proud to be the first Letting Agent in Berkhamsted to be recognised by this important Consumer Protection scheme.

We recognise that landlords and tenants often make decisions based on cost but it is important to ensure that your agent is signed up to a recognised regulatory body, and whether or not they are covered by a client money protection scheme.

All agents regulated by NAEA/NFOPP, the Law Society, NALS and RICS maintain and operate separate designated client accounts where your money is held completely separate from the operating funds of the firm. If the agent you are using cannot provide you with the assurance of knowing they are covered by a client money protection scheme the question you need to ask is why not?

More information on the SAFEagent scheme can be found here.
